Northland Eagles split two in recent action

Coming off three straight victories, the Eagles welcomed the Bigfork Huskies, a team that has dominated the Northern Lakes Conference match-up in recent years. Northland would stretch their winning streak to four with a tough fought 52-46 victory. With the Eagles leading by four with under three minutes to play, Husky big-man Liam Preto made a steal at half court and went in for a dunk, but was called for a technical foul. This was followed up by a technical on Bigfork coach Chad Lovdahl as well, sending freshman Alec Wake to the line where he made all four free throws.

"This was a big win both in the section and the conference for us" stated coach Chris Carlson. "We made the plays we needed to down the stretch."

Alec Wake was the only player in double figures with 15 in the low scoring affair. Carson Johnson and Harris Carlson were both tough on the boards with 11 and 10 respectively.

The Eagles looked to extend their winning streak to five against Southridge in another section contest, but the Panther's size was too much for the young Eagles team, falling 91-62. Facing a front line of 6'-8", 6'-6", and 6'-3" the Eagles struggled to rebound or get any shots inside the three point line. Northland did manage to hit 16 three pointers to keep the game close for a while, but in the end, the size of the Panthers was too much.

Alec Wake led the way in scoring with 19 points including five 3-pointers. Cameron Wake scored all of his 18 points on six 3-pointers and added eight rebounds and four assists. Nolan Carlson put in 10 points to round out the Eagles in double-figures. The Eagles face Cherry on Tuesday in Remer.[[In-content Ad]]
