No wake zone - Dream on!
To the Editor,
On the tiny 100 acre lake I live on a sarcastic chant of "no wake, no wake" was heard coming from the speeding wake board boat filled with adults and children visiting a neighbor for the holiday week. As waves crashed into shores continually 10 hours a day, we lake property owners had to stand by and watch our shoreline unnecessarily disappear. With muddied waters and high waves, shoreline swimming was difficult at best.
The sheriff's department, while listening attentively over the phone, was reportedly receiving hundreds of similar complaints, and stated not a whole lot could be done Water levels will remain near an all time high for the rest of the summer on many of the areas smaller lakes.[[In-content Ad]]We could ask boaters to slow down and be aware of the wakes their boat creates, but the sheriff's department has already done that. The majority suffers and will pay the consequences so a few can act carelessly, recklessly and in total disregard.
