The Itasca Moraine Chapter of the North Country Trail Assoc. has scheduled the second of three Mid-week Resort Hikes that are designed for people who have not hiked the trail before. Experienced hikers can join as well and have a good experience. The public is welcome and families with children are especially welcome. These hikes give the resort patrons another recreational opportunity and forest experience in the north woods.

All hikes begin at 10:00 AM. At the end of each hike, people are given rides back to their cars. For each hike an out and back short hike is scheduled as well as an approximate 2 mile and 4 mile hike.

On July 11 the hike is in the Walker area. Hikers are to meet at the North Country Trail crossing, 5 miles southwest of Walker on Cass County Hwy 12. Three hikes are scheduled. A short hike out and back as well as a 1.8 mile hike to Shingobee Recreation Area and a 4.3 mile hike to the Shingobee River Bridge/parking lot on Hwy 50.

On August 1st the hike is in the Longville Area. Hikers are to meet at the NCT parking lot just off of State Hwy 84, .8 miles south of the intersection with State Hwy 200. Three hikes are scheduled. A short hike to Cass Co. Hwy 126, a 2 mile hike to Forest RD 2875 and a 3.5 mile hike to FR 2875B.
