Mary Ann Fox

b. Nov. 5, 1950 d. June 30, 2018

Mary Ann Fox, age 67, of Whipholt, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 surrounded by her family.

Mary Ann was born on November 5, 1950 in Fosston, MN to Oscar and Alice (Pederson) Gunvalson. She grew up on the farm milking cows and helping with chores of everyday farm life. She graduated from Fosston High School in 1969, then went on to attend Detroit Lakes Technical College where she received her Secretarial Degree. While in college, she met Harvey Fox. They were married on May 6, 1972 and were blessed with three children: Melanie, Heather and David. They made their home in Whipholt, MN and Mary Ann worked as a HST at Ah-Gwah-Ching in Walker for many years. She loved her job and took pride in caring for her residents.

Mary Ann was an avid baseball fan and never missed a Twins game. She had a deep appreciation for nature and could be found out on her deck on warm summer mornings with a cup of strong coffee watching the birds and deer that graced their property. She adored her grandchildren and loved the sound of their little bare feet running in and out of her house. Mary Ann was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at an early age, and while it took a toll on her body, it never dampened her Spirit. She was quick to laugh, had a forgiving heart, and always looked for the best in people. She had a positive attitude, always finding something to be grateful for even on her toughest days. She was loving and above all, kind.

She will be forever missed by her husband, Harvey; three children: Melanie Loop, Heather (Bob) Landreville and David (Dana) Fox; five grandchildren: Michael and Kira Loop and Sophia, Alex and Emma Landreville; three brothers: John (Cheri) Gunvalson, Jim (Sue) Gunvalson and Ken (Cathy Jo) Gunvalson; brother-in-law, Bill (Sara) Fox and sister-in-law, Harriet Edwards, as well as numerous other relatives and her special friends, Deanne Hovelson and Sharon Williams who were by her side to the end.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Bob Edwards.

An afternoon of sharing and celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held in her backyard that she loved from 4-7 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018, 1668 67th Street NW, Walker. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the MS Society or local charity of their choice. Arrangements provided by Dennis Funeral Home / Midwest Cremation Association of Walker (www.dennisfuneralhome.com).
