Lorraine E. (Nyhous) Hare age 87, of Remer, MN, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN with her family by her side. Lorraine Elvera Hare was born in 1928 in Bena, MN to Embert and Clara Nyhous. She was diagnosed with tuberculosis as a teenager and was treated for two years at Ah-Gwah-Ching Sanitarium near Walker, MN. She completed her high school studies and graduated while at Ah-Gwah-Ching.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Larry Hare on October 6, 1951. They had six children: Gail (Dick) Martin of Remer, MN; Shirley (John) Cook of Ogden, Utah; (Larry) Steven Hare; Bruce Hare; Peggy Spiering of Evansville, MN, and Connie (Richard) Harwood of Coppell, Texas. They have 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Lorraine loved her family above all else. She sent handwritten letters to her sisters on a regular basis, notes and cards to all family members. She sewed clothing for her children and grandchildren. Lorraine loved family gatherings and passed on the tradition of lefse making to her family. She raised and showed miniature horses for several years. Lorraine and Larry were married for almost 64 years.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Bruce and Steve; son-in-law, Jim Spiering; brother, Gordon Nyhous; and sisters, Emoline Furey and Irene Erickson.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 30 from Noon until the 1 p.m. Funeral Service at Bethany Lutheran Church in Remer, MN. Pastor Dale Degner will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Remer, MN.
