Longville Tennis Association will build new tennis courts on south edge of town
The assure there will be tennis courts available, the Tabakas are graciously donating 2.1 acres of land to the north and west of Tossed and Found Boutique, where the new tennis courts will be located. The land will be transferred to the City of Longville. Rusty Lilyquist, a Longville realtor, is facilitating the transfer.
The new tennis courts will require 40 percent of the donated land. The remainder can be used for other recreational purposes by the city.
A group of tennis players formed the Longville Tennis Association, which will be responsible for raising funds to build the new courts. A proposal for construction of new tennis courts, from Anderson Brothers Construction for approximately $70,000 has been received.[[In-content Ad]]
To kick start the fund raising, a generous lead gift was made by Scott Stuart. Other members of the Tennis Assocation have also contributed.
The Longville Foundation has agreed to receive and hold funds for the new tennis courts. All donations are tax deductible and may be sent to the Longville Foundation, PO Box 92, Longville, MN 56655, and marked Tennis Courts.
Upon completion of the transfer of property to the city, approximately six to eight weeks are needed to complete the new courts. Upon completion, the new courts will be donated to the city by the Longville Tennis Association.
Monies raised in excess of the construction costs will be used to prepare a parking area and held for further maintenance costs.
