Longville hosts successful blood drive

To the Editor,

A total of 52 people volunteered to donate blood, and 44 were able to give during the St. Edward's Catholic Church's blood drive. Thirteen people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 57 products were collected. Regardless if numbers are large or small, they are still a very important contribution to the community blood supply. Sponsoring a blood drive with an adequate number of donors is a very important responsibility to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply.

Janice Prucha coordinated the drive, and the VFW Auxiliary Post 772 sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments, and registering donors. Space to hold the drive was provided at St. Edward's Catholic Church.

Donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 93 area hospitals served by United Blood Services. Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the "Gift of Life."
