Longville Food Share campaign underway
To the Editor:
The Longville Area Food Shelf (LAFS) is again asking individuals, organizations, businesses and townships to join us in combating hunger in our area. Last year we served 193 households containing 770 people (unduplicated numbers). Most of our clients remain the elderly and working poor.
The majority of our food purchasing budget is received during the month of March. This is the time to truly "stretch" your donation. Normally, for every $1.00 you donate, we can triple it with our purchasing power from our local food bank. During March, that number is 5-6 times more powerful. This is the only time of the year that we can also count every pound of food donated as $1.00 as well. In addition, we can receive monies from the Feinstein Incentive Foundation for participation during March and April.
Remember, every dollar you donate to LAFS is spent to buy food. All overhead costs of building operation (electricity, phone, heat, etc.) are covered by proceeds from Tossed & Found Boutique.
We have set a target goal of raising $25,000 for the campaign this year (food costs will be approximately $50,000). A display of our progress will be available to view at Tossed & Found. Please consider giving to this worthy cause. Donation jars are available at area businesses. No gift is too small. Donations can also be sent to the Longville Area Food Shelf @ PO Box 308, Longville, MN. 56655.
As always, we are grateful for your continued ongoing support.[[In-content Ad]]
