Let's look at all the options
to the Editor,
Many of us who voted no are not against any of these things. What we are against is making a decision of this magnitude with insufficient information. Asking the voters of the district to commit to $45 to $50 million dollars over the next 30 years with the amount of information provided by the board is irresponsible. The Board just has not done a thorough job. When asked pertinent questions they refuse to provide answers to the voters.
Instead of studying all possible solutions to the many problems of the district they focused on just one, remodeling the building, in the simplistic notion that if they build it, all the other problems will magically vanish. This is nonsense.
What they need to do, is put this one idea on hold and study all of the possible solutions in a measured, thorough, objective manner and report the results to the voters. Then and only then many of the no votes will go away.
This will require that they hire the appropriate outside experts to conduct such a study. If they don't have the funds available, they should ask the voters for it. Voters want to be assured that we are on the right path before committing to increased taxes for the next thirty years.
In the meantime voters have no other choice but to continue to vote no until the Board does the job right.[[In-content Ad]]
