Lets get ready to relay!
To the Editor,
Has someone in your family, a close friend, or respected co-worker battled this disease? How did it make you feel when you found out about their diagnosis? The common reaction is to offer your assistance in whatever way you can to help them through their journey. The Relay For Life is also a way for you to support your mission of assisting those you love in the battle against cancer. Teams can consist of 8 - 15 members and each member raises $100 through the sale of luminary bags in honor or memory of a loved one. The luminary bags can be decorated by the donor with pictures, drawings, or words about their loved one. The luminary bags are lit at dusk at a special ceremony with each bag representing a loved one and family and friend network behind that person.
It is the 10th year since the Relay has returned to the Pine River- Backus Area, so we are planning to make it a big event. In order to make it big, we need you to get a team together, make a donation to the event or a team, and then come and celebrate with the survivors at the Relay For Life.
It is also the 100th year anniversary of the American Cancer Society, so there will be many reasons to celebrate!
Contact Tina Grewe at 568-6084 with any questions about the Relay For Life. The 10th Annual Relay For Life will be Friday June 21st at the Pine River-Backus High School Track with the opening ceremony honoring area survivors at 7:00 p.m.
