Lady Eagles top Hornets on Parent's Night

Despite the final score, the Northland Lady Eagles played a tough game against the Warriors from Deer River. The return of Maddy Shepard from injury was not enough to elevate the team to victory and the girls would fall 50-64.

Eighth grader, Alexis Cash has shown continuous improvement posting three steals on defense and coming down with seven boards. Kristine Johnson led the offense with 18 points and 11 rebounds; Kali Wake followed with 15 points and seven boards Shepard added nine and Taylor Tschida put in four.

In a true show of sportsmanship, after the game the Deer River girls treated the Lady Eagles to a pizza and Gatorade party in remembrance of the losses their respective districts have faced in the last year.

Hill City would travel to Remer on Thursday for the Eagles Parent's Night. The girls came out firing on both ends of the court and put the Hornets away 70-60.

Three starters made it to double figures on offense with Kali Wake leading the charge with 23 points, 13 boards and three steals. Shepard added 19 points and Johnson put in 16 with three take-aways. Lexi Greene, the girls lone senior, was honored by her fellow players at her final regular season home game.

The girls travel to Blackduck tonight (Tuesday), then Travel to Pine River on Thursday. JV games begin at 5:45 p.m. with varsity games following.[[In-content Ad]]
