Lady Eagles suffer a pair of conference defeats

The Northland Lady Eagles faced two conference opponents last week in a pair of road games that ended in disappointment for the girls beginning with a 50-40 loss to Deer River.

"This was a disappointing week for us, poor decision making is making and not taking care of the ball is hurting us," stated head coach Jennifer Kovall.

Abby Burch led the Lady Eagles with 16 points and 11 rebounds followed up by Lizzie Procopio and Chloe Wolske with nine points each.

"Chloe has played a couple of solid games in a row, love her intensity and defensive effort - fun to coach that," commented Coach Kovall.

The second road game of the week found the girls in Little Fork-Big Falls to take on the Vikings. Turnovers found their way into the girls play and they would fall 60-41.

"After a two hour and fifteen minute bus ride, I knew we needed to be mentally ready to play, it's such an important part of the game and we are struggling with that right now. Our defense worked hard but the turnovers killed us. We turned the ball over 30 times, we just can't win like that. It's frustrating, but I believe in these girls and we will put it together sooner than later," said Coach Kovall.

Wolske led the Lady Eagles with 11 points and six steals on defense. Procopio added 10 points and nine boards followed by Burch and Angie Rajdl with nine a piece.[[In-content Ad]]
