Lady Eagles show promise despite slow start
"We are playing competitive with everyone so far, we just can't pull out the W! Turnovers are killing us right now, when we clean up that part of our game, we'll start winning," said Head Coach Jenny Kovall.
Abby Burch just missed her third consecutive double-double by a single rebound but still led the offense with 16 points and nine rebounds. Nikina Gross, Lizzie Procopio and Chloe Wolske added 10 points each with Gross and Procopio chipping in a dozen boards a piece.
Thursday night found the girls hosting a conference match-up for the second time in the week this time against Littlefork-Big Falls. Turnovers again were a problem as the girls gave up the ball 35 times en-route to a 38-54 loss to LF-BF.
Kori Dunham led the offense this time with 14 points and 5 boards. Gross followed up with nine points and six rebounds; Burch with seven points and Wolske with an even half-dozen.
"It was the same story with turnovers. We played a much better second half, out-scoring them by a point. Hopefully we can build on that and move forward toward a win next week." Commented Coach Kovall.
"This team has a great work ethic and a great attitude, we will continue to improve and once we get control of the ball, the wins will come."
The girls travel to Hill City Thursday night and then travel to Nashwauk on Monday.
