Lady Eagles drop a nail-biter against Lady Wolves
The Lady Eagles hosted their cross Hwy. 200 rivals, WHA Wolves in a non-conference match-up on February 3. The shooting percentage was there from the field and long range, solid work under the glass by all the players, but it wasn't quite enough and at the final buzzer the Lady Eagles would come up three short at 58-61.
"This was a great effort by all my girls and it came right down to the end. Our average height is about 5'5", we played tough against a much larger and more experienced WHA team. I saw great improvement tonight and it's great to see the freshmen stepping up," commented Head Coach Jenny Kovall.
Chloe Wolske led the offense with 20 points followed by Kristine Johnson with 17. Kali Wake added 10 points and six boards and four steals. Makendra Anderson brought down nine rebounds, while Keyanna Gross added eight and Wake with six.
The Lady Eagles would next hit the road to Floodwood to take on the Lady Bears. Wolske again had a big game offensively with 18 points followed by Johnson with 10 and Gross with nine.
Turnovers made the difference as the girls had more trouble hanging onto the ball allowing for a 10 point victory for the Lady Bears 49-59.
The Lady Eagles next host Greenway on Thursday night and travel to Deer River on February 18.[[In-content Ad]]
