Lady Eagles come up short against Drakes; move on to playoffs

The Northland Lady Eagles began to wrap up their season last week with a home match-up against the Blackduck Drakes. With the regular season nearly in the books, the girls now have their entire roster back in action and look to hone their skills moving into the playoffs beginning Thursday.

Despite solid play at times throughout, inconsistency set the ladies back a deficit that proved too large to overcome and fell to the Drakes 62-71.

"This was a game we should have won, we had our chances, we seemed to be our own worst enemy tonight." Commented Head Coach Jenny Kovall.

Kali Wake posted another double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Kristine Johnson led with 27 points, six boards and seven steals. Alexis Cash chipped in six points and came down with 10 boards. Maddy Greene added five points and Taylor Tschida put in four points, five rebounds and four steals.

"Now we start preparing for the playoffs...Our first round is in Hermantown on Thursday. We're coming in the fifth seed and we'll possibly be up against either Southridge or Carlton. I'm hoping we can make a run and finish strong with our entire team back on the court." Concluded Kovall.[[In-content Ad]]
