Turnovers have been the story of the season for the Northland Lady Eagles. Close games have gone the other way in the closing minutes of several contests.

Last Monday found non-conference opponent Floodwood traveling to Remer to take on the Lady Eagles. The girls hung tough with the Polar Bears for most of the game, however, as the turnovers began to mount, so did the Floodwood point total. At the buzzer, the final was 50-32.

"It was a much better game than the score reflects, it was a four-point game most of the way, we lost our composure late in the second half resulting in the final score," commented Head Coach Jenny Kovall.

Kori Dunham led the Lady Eagles with 11 points and six boards. Nakina Gross held strong under the basket, retrieving 12 rebounds. Lizzie Procopio added six points and six rebounds.

Thursday, the girls found themselves on the road, searching for a win on the way to Hill City. The girls were able to find a way to shave 24 turnovers off of their previous games total and post the first victory of the '11-'12 season against a conference opponent, downing the Hornets 48-38.

"This is the best composure I have seen out of my veteran players, only three turnovers in the first half! I keep reminding the girls we have the talent, but we need to focus on the mental part of the game, we are doing that much better. This is a long overdue win for us. Lizzie and Kori both played excellent," said Coach Kovall.

Dunham posted 15 points; Procopio had 13 to go with 13 boards and five take aways; Gross added 10 and nine rebounds.
