The girls put up solid game but a last second three pointer left the ladies one point shy of overtime 61-62.
"Onamia got hot from the outside and we didn't defend it very well, unfortunately. This was a heartbreaking loss for the kids and we lost Kori Dunham late in the game to a knee injury that will put her out for at least two weeks," commented Coach Jenny Kovall.
Sierra Likens led the scoring with 13 points; Abby Burch carded a double-double effort of 13 points and 11 rebounds followed by Dunham with a dozen from the floor.
Monday's game in Nevis may be one that the ladies would just as soon forget. With little time to prepare for a start without Dunham, the girls fell to the Tigers 33-63.
"With only one day in between Kori's knee injury and a road trip to Nevis, we didn't play with our usual enthusiasm," commented Coach Kovall.
Burch led the offense with 14 points and 4 rebounds followed by Tori Howard and Likens with a half dozen each.
The Lady Eagles last shot at a "w" for the week meant another road game to McGregor. Likens was able to pick up some of the slack left by Dunham's injury, but it was not to be for the girls as they suffered their third loss of the week 48-62.
"We bounced back well and played with a lot of heart, but not good enough to pull down a win. We were tied at one point late in the second half, but it was a five point game most of the night. I'm proud of all their efforts and hopefully we'll stay on track and bring home a few more wins going down the stretch," said Coach Kovall.
Likens provided the majority of the Eagle scoring with 19 points to go along with eight take aways. Howard and Brittney Nornberg added eight points each.
The girls are back in action tonight (Tuesday) hosting Greenway and then another home stand against Isle on Thursday followed by a 1:00 game-time road trip to Pillager on Saturday. Varsity tip-off is at 7:15.
