The Northland Lady Eagles Volleyball team traveled to Laporte for the season opener on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. The Lady Eagles swept the Wildcats with all teams coming home winners of their first game.

The Varsity played four games 25-21; 25-20; 16-25 and 25-23. Leading the team was senior co-captain Lizzy Procopio with 18 serves, 2 aces, 14 attacks, 4 kills; 37 sets and 4 assists. Junior Brianna Zoch had 13 serves, 4 aces, 2 blocks, 11 attacks and 3 kills. Senior co-captain Sara Spartz chipped in 14 serves and 4 aces.[[In-content Ad]]

Coach Carol Procopio said, "The teamwork was excellent. Angie Rajdl and Denyl Dugan played great defense for the Eagles." Other seniors on the team this year are Abby Fischer, Liz Tabaka and Alexa Sjoblom.

The Northland Eagles volleyball teams are grateful to all who helped with the buying and selling of butterbraids. The girls will be delivering them Wednesday Sept. 5th. The funds raised from the sale were used to buy volleyballs, equipment and team shirts. For community service the Lady eagles worked at the Jaycee's corn shack at the Itasca County Fair, in Grand Rapids on Aug. 15th.

The team hopes to see their fans this week. Tuesday Sept. 4, 2012 the Lake Eagles play at home against Hill City. Thursday Sept. 6, the girls will take on Little Fork/Big Falls at home.
