Lady Eagles break win drought, Burch closes in on 1,000

Valentine's Day was not a particularly sweet one for the Lady Eagles as they hit the road to take on conference foe Greenway. The girls have been struggling lately to keep a handle on the basketball and Raider defense did them no favors as the girls came up short 37-55.

"We came out a little flat, we had our moments, but never really got the momentum going that we're used to seeing," commented Head Coach Jenny Kovall.

Abby Burch led the team with 16 points, three rebounds and six steals. Lizzie Procopio added eight points and eight boards, while Chloe Wolske chipped in six.

"We've had good play at times, but the turnovers really take a toll. These are good kids and they are really trying hard. I'm proud of them but we need more players to be aggressive about scoring," concluded Coach Kovall.

The girls traveled to Pillager needing a win to end an extended draught in the win column, and that is exactly what they got. Solid play in the second half and better ball control put the ladies on top 62-57.

Burch dropped in 33 points 15 boards and six steals on the night. Wolske had a better composed game with 18 points and seven steals.

One of the brightest lights of the Lady Eagle season has been the consistently solid play of Abby Burch. With her 33 points against Pillager, she is only three points from 1,000. The girls last home game is tonight against Deer River Varsity tip-off is 7:15 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
