Kelly was born in Minneapolis and spent his early years in Brooklyn Center, MN. He moved with his family to Longville in 1972. He and his brother, Scott, worked with their carpenter father, Mike, to build their first home here on Kego Lake. Kelly worked part-time in Longville at Phil Likens Gas Station and as dishwasher at the cafe. He attended Northland school for 11th and 12th grades and graduated in 1974. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After boot camp he was sent to Fort MacDill Base in Tampa, FL. He specialized in working on F-15 fighter jet engines. He received several awards while in the service.

He later met and married Shirley Guerra in Tampa, adopting her daughter, Angela. He and Shirley had a daughter, Carrie and a son, Joe. Years later they divorced.

Kelly was stationed at several bases in Florida and the last one in Las Vegas, NV. He completed twenty years in the service before returning to work in Georgia and later Tampa to be near his children.

Kelly was suddenly taken to Tampa General Hospital where he had multiple strokes to the brain. A Catholic priest administered last rites. He later died.

A service was held June 27th at the MacDill Chapel and later his remains were interred at the Veteran's Cemetery.

He is survived by son Joe (Jenna) Adams; Daughter Carrie Adams; grandchildren, Zoe and Joey Jr. all of Tampa, FL. Brother, Scott (Cindy) Adams of Rogers, MN; Sister Suzette (Blair) Bos, Lake St. Louis, MO. Mother, Carol Adams of Longville. As well as many other family members and friends.

Kelly was preceeded in death by his daughter, Angela in 1975 and father, Mike in 2004.[[In-content Ad]]
