Julie is preceded in death by her mother Tessie Marion (Bakker), her sister Lynn Marion, and her nephew Scott Johnson. She is survived by her husband Keith and her siblings: Mathew Marion, Wendy Johnson (John), Mark Marion (Mari), Luke Marion (Nazgoul), John Marion (Corrie); her nieces and nephews: Craig, Amanda, Kelsie, Mikal, Leah, Jacob, Jaris, and Holley; and many cousins.
Julie grew up on the family resort Cedar Springs Lodge on the south shore of Leech Lake. She graduated from Walker High School and then from Bemidji State University with a BS degree in teaching. She taught school in Minnesota, Arizona, and North Carolina. She has also developed curriculum for Conservation Centers in Minnesota and North Carolina. She was on the Board of Advisors for the Arizona Standardized Testing when she lived in Arizona.
After retiring from teaching, and moving back to the Walker area, she became the manager for Horseshoe Bay Resort.
Julie loved to learn as well as teach. She could converse in 10 languages. Her personal library was extensive and it moved with her everywhere! She loved to camp, canoe, kayak, snowshoe, and go target shooting. She floundered at cross country skiing and was scared of ice fishing! She loved to cook, organize and plan events.
There will be a gathering of family and friends later in the summer.
Arrangements are being handled by Dennis Funeral Home/Midwest Cremation Association of Walker.[[In-content Ad]]
