John was a Navy veteran, American Legion post 202 and a member of the Bloomington Volunteer Fire Department where he made lifelong friendships. John owned and operated his own landscaping business Norskmen Nursery. He was a devoted husband to Marilyn "Mickey' for 53 years and a strict but loving father to 4 daughters. John's empathy, sympathy, generous heart of gold, Norwegian sense of humor, stunning blue eyes, quick smile and laugh, endeared him to extended family, friends, and countless business associates.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn; his parents Muriel and Ernie; Brother Blair; granddaughter Kayleigh Veith; his daughter and son in law Sandy and Paul Offerman. John is survived by bother Richard (Arlene) Gjevre; Sister Helen Tamayo; four daughters Jacqlynn (George) Veith, Sherry Raynovich (Randy Sunder), Kari (Rick) Schouviller; 8 grandchildren, Matt Jacobson, Chad Offerman, Jodi Watkins, Trisha Offerman, Nick (Jessamyn) Veith, Andrea Veith, Lindsey Veith, Kayleigh Schouviller; 9 great grandchildren, Andre, Wesley, Angelo, Vanessa, Aidan, Isaiah, Brandon, Gjevre, Adriana; nephews, Robert, Jon T, Jon G, Kirk; nieces, Shelly, Katherine and Joni. John was also survived by his very special loving partner Pat Fleckner who made the last several years of his life happy and blessed! John was also blessed to have a bonus family, Jen (Rick) Jasmine, Faith and Quentin. John was loved greatly by all who knew him, we will all miss his big heart, his jokes and wild tales of the one that got away.
