John Allen Sonju, age 89, of Boy River, MN died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN.

John was born August 8, 1929 to Elling and Alida Sonju in Boy River, MN.

John married Shirley Snell on July 12, 1968. They lived in the Boy River area where he farmed. He later drove school bus for 24 years until retiring in 2001.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; three sisters, Elverna Valentine, Evelyn Sonju, and Edna Henderson; and one brother, Clifford Sonju.

John is survived by his son, Peter Sonju.

No memorial services are planned.
