REMER - Joanne Marie Ellefson, 80, of Remer, MN, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 10, 2010. She was born on March 19, 1930 in New London, Minn., to Clarence and Marie (Larson) Peterson.

Joanne grew up and attended school in Atwater, Minn., graduating in 1948. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She attended the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. She worked various jobs growing up and was an Avon representative for over 30 years. Joanne enjoyed sports, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family. She was a friend of Bill W for over 33 years. She and John recently celebrated their 50th year anniversary on Nov. 14, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, great uncle and aunt Ben and Emma Larson, brother Wendell Peterson and sister Sharon Sarkissian.

Joanne is survived by her husband John of Remer; children Anita Perkins, of Crystal, Minn., Sandra Perkins of Oakdale, Minn., Mark Perkins of Rochester, Minn., Paul (Linda) Ellefson of Cambridge, Minn., and James (JoAnne) Ellefson of Northfield, Minn., 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters Nancy Heyerly and Shirley Peterson both of Eugene, Ore., brother in-laws and sister in-laws Ruben Sarkissian of Chatsworth, Calif., Joyce Peterson of Federal Way, Wash., Dave Ellefson of Banner Elk, N.C., and Harris and Luetta Hostager of Hackensack, Minn.

Funeral Services for Joanne was held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville with Rev. John Monson officiating.

Interment was held at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Longville following the service.
