Jerry was born on December 24, 1940 to Lawer and Eunice (Meyer) LaRue in Minneapolis, Minn. The family moved to Zimmerman, Minn., in 1956 and he graduated from Elk River High School in 1959. In 1961, he married Dessel Hetrick.
Jerry was employed at Honeywell, Holiday Station Stores and Heinen Companies, where he learned the boiler business. He started his own company, Boiler Combustion Analysis which is still a successful company today. He also started Zimmerman's very first garbage removal service with a little pickup truck and a shovel, his first client being the Buffalo House. That business evolved into one of the big garbage removal services in the area. The third company he started was Jani-Kleen, an office and business cleaning company. Jerry was Director of Building and Grounds for the Princeton School District and then the Becker School District. He attended the United Methodist Church of Zimmerman and was active in Cub Scouts and a Webeloes leader.
Jerry is survived by his sons: Layne (Marty) of Princeton and Lance (Julie) of Albertville; six grandchildren: Jason Springer, Leanne Okan, Paul LaRue, Terry J. LaRue, Baylen LaRue, Taylor LaRue; four great grandchildren; brother: Donald James LaRue of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Carolyn Sue LaRue Sopiwnik.
A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be from 2-4PM, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Steven's Restaurant, Princeton. Interment: Bellwood Cemetery, Zimmerman.[[In-content Ad]]
