Jeanette Susan Brown, beloved wife of Pastor Duane Brown, beloved Choir Director of Longville Community Church, beloved mother and grandmother, and beloved friend to many, went to be with the LORD suddenly and unexpectedly on June 5.

Jeanette was born February 26, 1954, in South Charleston, West Virginia, to James and Betty Groscup. She attended St. Albans High School, where she was an Honors Student and had many achievements in the choral arts and music programs. After graduation in 1971, she began singing duets with Duane Brown; in time, their music turned into love, and in time, their love turned into marriage, a marriage that produced two children and seven grandchildren, a marriage that would have been celebrated at the 45 year mark in July.

Jeanette was an extremely gifted musician who made numerous choral arrangements. She and music partner Isabel Karon collaborated on numerous original musical plays that were performed in the Longville area. She was a teacher who knew how to bring the best out in her students and in her choir, a friend who knew how to bring out the best in everyone, and a wife who proved to be the most wonderful helpmeet and soul mate a husband could ever have. She was adored by her grandchildren, and served as a surrogate mother and grandmother to countless children over the course of her life. She was the consummate pastor's wife, who gave her heart and soul to the LORD, her family, and to the church. She did all things well, and she made what was good even better.

Jeanette is survived by her devoted husband, Rev. Duane Brown of Longville; daughter Sarah Anne Brown of Weed, California; grandson Christian Isaac Brown of Longville, granddaughter Harley Sue Vaughn and grandson Jameson Sayler of Weed, California; daughter Susan Elizabeth (Scott) granddaughters Shelby Anne, Ella Gwen, Nelly Mae, and Elijah Ireland Brown, all of Yreka, California; and sister Joellen Groscup of St. Albans, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Betty, and her brother Jim, who was himself an outstanding musician and wonderful person.

Jeanette's life and resurrection will be celebrated at noon on Friday, June 21, at the Longville Community Church. Her choir will be ministering in song, accompanied - through the wonders of technology - by Jeanette herself. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jeff Hopson, of Lincoln, Nebraska, whose friendship with Duane and Jeanette dates back to their seminary days. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Jeanette loved flowers, but she loved people much more. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Least Of These My Brethren Fund (also known as the Spaghetti Fund), which seeks to help the needy and less fortunate of the Longville area. Contributions may be sent to Longville Community Church, P.O. Box 183, Longville, MN 56655.
