Ira Smart, 90, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ, at home surrounded by his loving family in Pueblo Colorado on March 19, 2018. Ira was born in Woodstock, Ohio on December 8, 1927 to Lillian Belle Gray and Ira Smart Sr. He served in the US Army Air Force following his High School Graduation from Mechanicsburg, OH. After discharge Ira served in the National Guard for years achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He spent the biggest share of his life in school, earning his BS at Ohio State University and his MS from University of Washington, DC. Ira retired from Army Material Command, Washington D.C. in January 1987. He and his wife Ila moved to their Remer, Minnesota country home. Ira served in many capacities of local churches where ever he lived. Boy River Log Chapel being his last church home. He served as Sunday school teacher, custodian, deacon, and builder. He served wherever he was needed. Ira served on the Board of Salem Township as secretary for years. He also did volunteer tax preparation for 27 years with AARP. His achievements were many and his desire was to be sure others knew about his Savior Jesus Christ.

On June 23, 1958, Ira married Ila June Johnston at the Boy River Log Chapel.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Bessie Fox.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ila . His children: Terri Lynn Packard and her husband Pastor Larry Packard of Florence, CO, Rhonda Kaye Stone of Pueblo, CO, Joshua Adam Smart of Federal Dam, MN. Grandchildren: Thomas Packard and Sarah, Rebecca Musso and Rocky, Timothy Packard, Paul Packard, Rachel Packard, Elizabeth Packard, Esther Packard, Westley ( Ben) Stone and Rachel, Jacob Stone. Great Grandchildren: David Austin, Elliott Stone, Hailee Stone, Dawson Packard, Evelyn Packard, Raleigh Packard, Avery Musso, and Addison Musso.

He is loved and missed by many family members and friends.
