How did your flag weather?

To the Editor,

By Dennis Zaske, Commander VFW Post 772- | Comments: 0 | Leave a comment

This is the time of year when we are busy cleaning our yards after the long winter. We wash off all the winter's dust, clean our closets and get everything looking good. Let's also remember to look up and check out our American Flag flying high on the flag pole or hanging on the pole off from our house or place of business.

Our flag represents our pride and our love for our country and too many times we take our flag for granted and forget to replace it before it becomes faded and torn. Flying no flag is better than flying a faded and torn flag.

New flags can easily be purchased ay your local hardware store.

June 14th, Flag Day, VFW Post 772 will be having a Flag Retirement Ceremony in Longville behind the Information Booth next to the Post Office, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring your old flags to us at that time or drop them off at the Longville Inn, in Longville, or at Holter's Grocery, in Remer prior to that date. Flags should be retired at a ceremony and should NEVER be thrown in the garbage to end up in a landfill. All VFW's and American Legions have retirement ceremonies each year and are eager to retire your flags in the proper manner.

Our communities are busy places in the summer so let's show all of our guests that we are communities that love our country and our flag and that we support our Service Men and Women working to keep us free.[[In-content Ad]]
