Hackensack community looking for answers

To the Editor,

The Hackensack Lions Board shares community concerns about recent acts of vandalism, break-ins and offensive spray painting in the area.

This friendly and accepting community has been substantially crime free and takes great pride in neighbors taking care of neighbors.

The break-ins, vandalism and graffiti, including anti gay commentary, are not acceptable in our home town.

Lions Board representatives will meet with Mayor Larry Ciha to discuss what course of action the city needs to take to address these crimes.

The Lions Board has created a reward fund to address 1) break-ins and vandalism and 2) offensive spray painting. The board is donating a $250 reward payable to the person(s) providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of the criminals involved Please provide confidential tips to the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 218 547 1424. If there are multiple people convicted the reward will be appropriately divided. The reward fund is growing rapidly as businesses and individuals in the community contribute to it.

If you wish to add to the reward fund please make tax deductible donations payable to the Hackensack Lions Club noting on the memo line "reward fund". Please drop off donations at the Hackensack branch of the Fist National Bank of Walker.

We ask that all community members be vigilant and report suspicious activity by immediately calling 911.
