Guy W. Grimmelbein of Remer, MN died on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home.

Guy was born on March 20, 1944 to Russell and Bernadette (Theroux) Grimmelbein in Oak Park, IL when his family lived in Downers Grove, IL. Guy moved with his family to Naperville, IL in 1955. He graduated from Naperville High School in 1963 and attended Northern Illinois University until 1967 when he enlisted in the United States Army. He spent one tour in Vietnam and returned to Naperville after his three-year service.

In 1971, Guy returned to Northern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1972. Guy loved nature. Growing up in Naperville, he raised bantam chicken and rabbits and grew a large vegetable garden which he continued to do throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing, especially for largemouth bass on Kidney Lake in Remer, MN. As a youth, he also worked on local Naperville farms, tending the farm animals and working the fields.

In 1973, Guy moved to Remer, MN; fulfilling his wish to live in the "Northwoods" where he and his family always spent their summer vacation on Big Thunder Lake. His constant partners in Remer were his dog and cat. Guy loved to run and starred in both high school and college in cross-country running. He continued to run throughout his life until unable to do so.

Guy is survived by his twin brother, Ross of Grand Junction, CO, brothers, Mark of Bemidji, MN, Jeffrey of Naperville, IN; sister, Donna Misita of Natchez, MS; cousins, Jackie and Tom; and nephews, Joel and Scott Misita and Brett Grimmelbein of San Francisco, CA.
