Government shutdown unlikely to affect Cass County HHVS
Minnesota Departments of Health, Human and Veterans Services all sent notices to Wells, indicating benefits to clients for health care, cash, food and other services will continue in the short term.
Wells reported HHVS spent 56.42 percent of the 2013 budget during the first 66.67 percent of the year. Only 47 percent of the budgeted $2,077,500 for out of home child placements was spent in that same time period.
Cass has received $235,627.66 principal and interest as a part of a five-year refund of money the county contributed toward funding South Country Health Alliance when the county joined that multi-county group to provide medical assistance services.
Cass withdrew from that group at the end of 2010 and will receive refund payments through 2015. The state currently administers Cass's medical assistance program.
Tuesday, Cass County Board approved contract terms under which the county proposes to provide law enforcement services eight hours per week at $40 per hour to the city of Backus. It mirrors a contract the county has had for several years with the city of Cass Lake.
Cass County Board will hold a public hearing during the 9 a.m. Nov. 5 board meeting at the courthouse in Walker on a proposal to vacate Lakeview Avenue in the plat of Portage Lake. The road lies south of Blackmar Road NW and is about four miles east of the city of Bena.
Cass County commissioners will attend a District 2 Association of Minnesota Counties meeting Oct. 30 at Primewest, 3124 Hannah Ave., Bemidji.[[In-content Ad]]
