Gertrude Palmquist
b. Sept, 20, 1916 - d. Oct. 3, 2010
Gert was born on September 20, 1916, in Fergus Falls, Minn. She taught in rural, one-room schools in Ottertail County, Minn., before marrying Louis Palmquist in 1938. After several years out west, Gert and Louie returned to Minnesota and raised their family in Robbinsdale. In the late 1950's, they purchased land on Hand Lake near Pine River, and with the help of many friends and family, built a beautiful cabin which later became their retirement home.
Gert is survived by her son, David (Mary "Yon") Palmquist; daughters: Betty Ringler (Pat Dennie), Janis (Robert) Redfield; son-in-law, Ken Noren; and her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren: Kathy Noren, Jenny Olson, Shannon Noren, Hope Palmquist (Chris Swingley), Glenn Ringler, Amy Ringler (Mark Cardinal), West and Tanner Cardinal.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond and Alvin in 1930, and her husband, Louis and daughter, Joyce Noren in 1988.
Services were at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 7, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Committal service was on Friday, October 8, at Glen Haven Cemetery, in Crystal, Minn.
