After graduating high school he joined the Air Force. Upon completion of his service, George returned to Minnesota and met his future bride, Mildred Jankovich, at the New Year's Eve Ballroom Dance. They married in Remer at Bethany Lutheran Church September 12th, 1953.
George was an accomplished welder and worked on the Radisson South building and bridges in the cities. When George and his wife, Millie, moved back to Remer, he was able to realize his dream and purchased the family farm in 1962. Raising 6 children and running a dairy farm until George retired in 1996.
George was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elwyn, Darwin, Marian, and Barbara, grandchildren Brandon and Cassandra, and niece Elise. George is survived by his wife, Millie, his children Terry (Paula), Carrie (Darrel), Randy, Sandy (Jim), Ron (Heather), and Dawn (Al) and grandchildren Corey (Andrea), Chelsea, Dustin, Lexi, Ian, Ethan, Trevor, Mark, Steve, and Shelby.
George enjoyed visiting with family and friends, farming, working on his tractors and machinery, and caring for animals. He welded family keepsakes that will be treasured forever.
George donated his body upon death to the Anatomy Bequest Program, Education and Medical Research at the University of Minnesota. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
George passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Millie at his side. George will be greatly missed.[[In-content Ad]]
