Faith In Action forms friendships

One volunteer and care receiver connection has resulted in a wonderful friendship. Faith in Action Volunteer, Sue Buche has been visiting with Themeo on Mondays since last summer. Themeo has dementia and his wife, Dolores had requested a respite volunteer so she could get some time for herself, to get to her appointments, go shopping, or out for lunch with friends. A retired math teacher, Themeo is still sharp with numbers and loves to play cards, especially cribbage. Sue wasn't so sure of her cribbage skills at first, but has learned to love the game and the time spent visiting with Themeo. They have become good friends.
"Volunteers are the heart and hands of Faith in Action," stated Executive Director Theresa Eclov. "The number and types of requests are different every month, and somehow volunteers respond and fill the needs." Faith in Action volunteers gave over 4000 hours and drove over 56,400 miles in service in 2012.
