Enough is enough
To the Editor,
A number of years ago, Wabado Township tried pushing for its own community center but it failed due to lack of interest and voter discontent. This board must be out of their collective mind, perhaps they must be a part of the Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid band wagon where you spend as much as you can, especially if it is someone else's money! Maybe president Obamba can bless this project, after all, he was a community organizer in Chicago and he might have some experience in this area.
How can we expect our government in Washington to quit spending and wasting taxpayer money when our local townships have the same problem. With the current economic situation in our area, which includes high unemployment, businesses closing there doors, loss of property values, budget deficits, and looming tax increases at the federal, state, and local level, this is not the time to start dreaming up new projects to spend money on. If the school district could not afford to maintain the building, we the taxpayers in the Longville area should not be asked to do so, especially for something we do not need. I guarantee, if this idea goes through they will be asking for a new building down the road because the operating and running costs are too high - once again sticking it to the taxpayers.
I myself have lived all over the United States and have never been in a community center, nor do I have any desire or reason to do so. The business leaders and property owners in the Longville area have to let their local elected officials know that the days of needless local government spending on unwarranted projects should and must to come to an end.
