She married Durward (Chris) Christensen on July 12, 1944 in Pima County Arizona while Chris was training to be a B-24 Tail Gunner in WWII. While Chris was serving in WWII, Eileen moved to South St. Paul, Minnesota and worked as a grocery clerk and a clothes presser at a dry cleaning business.
After the war they settled down to raise their two sons, Charlie and Bruce, in South St. Paul. During the time they lived in South St. Paul they purchased a cabin on Woman Lake in Longville, Minnesota. It was there they could pursue their passion for fishing and snowmobiling. In 1980 they moved to Longville, Minnesota permanently. While living in Longville Eileen worked as a baker in a grocery store.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chris and her sons Charlie and Bruce, and her grandson Shawn Peterson, and brother Arden "Dutch" Sheets.
Eileen is survived by her brothers Devan Sheets and wife Muriel of Mesquite, Nevada, Del Pengilly and wife Nancy of Springville, CA. Daughter- in- laws, Val Petersen of Mahtomedi, Minnesota, and Paula Penkauskas of Sun City, Arizona. Nieces, Susan Carlson of Albert Lea. Minnesota, Robin Chaney of Visalia, CA, Kristie Steventon of Porterville, CA, Kellie Kroutil of Porterville, CA, Devon Meixner of Roseburg, ORE, and nephews David Pengilly of Terra Bella, CA, and Terry Sheets of Canyonville, ORE.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Porterville located at 165 East Mill. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.[[In-content Ad]]
