Earl Clearance Higgins
b. Oct. 10, 1942 d. July 11, 2011
Earl was born October 10, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Edwin and Josephine (Johnsen) Higgins. He grew up in Chicago, and Kenosha, Wisconsin where he graduated from high school. Earl was very proud of the eight years he spent serving our country in the Army Reserves. He also received great satisfaction from his career as a meat cutter, working in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Missouri. In 2007 he moved to the Longville area where he enjoyed the woods of northern Minnesota, and in 2009 to Golden Living Center in Walker. Earl thrived most in life when serving and interacting with people. He was an advocate for the rights of the elderly, and worked tirelessly at finding owners of rescued animals. He was a talented artist, an avid reader, and very politically active, which enabled him to have great conversation with ease. Earl lived life with a great sense of humor, and will be remembered as a gentle man with beautiful blue eyes and a kind voice.
Earl is survived by two sisters; Ellen (Bob) Karpen and Evelyn (John) Sabye, and long time friend, Sandy Hoff Sampson, his cat Einstein, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Edith, and brothers; Edwin and Eugene.
No services will be held. The Dennis Funeral Home of Longville assisted in arrangements. Share on-line condolences at www.dennisfuneralhome.com
