Eagles volleyball notches first win

Culture, Attitude and Development is the name of the game this season for the Northland Eagles Volleyball team. With a young team that has a lot of heart, the Eagles are showing that they can make things happen when they work together as one.

The Eagles traveled to Northome to take on the Mustangs Tuesday, September 4th. The Lady Eagles played hard, despite being set back with Junior Jazzy Jorgenson being out, and freshman setter Sam Shepard having to step out. These girls just amaze me with what they can do! We had a couple of unexpected things happen, but they can step up and push forward when they need to.

Junior Bella Goodrich, stepped up and filled the setter role for us in the third set. It's a lot to put on a kid, and she did well. We asked her to step into arguably one of the toughest roles on the court, and she did it without hesitation.

The Eagles fought hard, and lost in four, but performed very well. You know they're having fun, when you can't tell if they've won or lost, because they're so excited about each other and how they played as a whole.

The Eagles hosted the Indus Trojans on their home court on Thursday, September 6th. We weren't sure how we were going to match up, since we haven't seen them for awhile and knew they had some coaching changes. The Lady Eagles pulled off their first win of the season Thursday, with a win in four. We had some great things happen, and we had a lot of fun. There's nothing better, than seeing these kids have fun playing a sport that they love. They're setting the bar for the younger kids as to what it takes to have the privilege of wearing a varsity jersey. It takes 100% commitment, 100% trust, 110% effort, and its all for the team. I'm exciting to see where the girls will go next, they've got this great synergy - it's electric, and you can feel it. It really is such a great thing when you have parents and fans come up to the girls and coaches and say, "Hey! These girls were really fun to watch tonight!"

We'll host the Nashwauk-Keewatin Spartans on our home court on Tuesday, September 11th. "We know that this one is going to be a tough one, but we're ready to see what we can bring forward."
