Eagles topple Mercs with second half surge
A very closely contested game throughout the first half, had the Eagles out front of the visitors 34-26 at the break. Both Justin Wicks and Cooper Kovall led the way with 12 points each.
Coming out of the intermission, the Eagle defensive intensity picked up and would turn a close game into a rout midway through the second half. The Eagles would use runs of 19-8 and 14-3 to push the lead out to thirty, 67-37, and the as the final buzzer sounded the Eagles were enjoying a well-deserved 78-43 victory.
A pretty complete game on both the defensive and offensive end led to many easy baskets as the boys were able to locate the open man all night long.

As gratifying as the victory over the Mercs was on Monday, in this season of ups and downs for the Eagles, the Hill City Hornets would provide a tougher task on Friday, February 20.
Early on the Eagles would play tough and hit some nice shots to have the lead 14-13 midway through the opening half. The Hornets would score the next ten points and use a 25-6 run heading into half, as they led 38-20.
The Eagles started the second half with five quick points to close to 38-25, but that would be as close as this one would get as the Eagles shooting and turnover woes would rise up and let the Hornets cruise to a 67-41 victory.
While placing four players in double digit scoring against the Mercs, the Eagles could not get one player into double figures in this one as the offense just did not click all evening.
