With four games scheduled, the Eagles were looking to get over the .500 mark on the season. After Monday's game at Mesabi East was rained out, the Eagles loaded the bus and headed to Deer River to face the Warriors on Tuesday, May 12.

The Eagles fell behind early 3-0 after two innings, but rallied over the next three at bats to take a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the fifth, before the Warrior hitters scattered some hits, as anything they touched turned into runs as they knocked in nine runners to retake the lead at 12-5. The Eagles would put runners on base but could not push across any further runs as they fell 12-5.

"We pretty much outplayed them for most of the game, except for that one inning. Deer River is a solid team and you cannot give a good team any extra outs or they will make you pay." Coach Shepard commented after the game. "We had a good start from Cooper (Kovall), but we ran into some trouble in the bottom of the fifth that we just couldn't get out of. We did have some guys who had been slumping at the plate put a few good swings on the ball so hopefully that will carry over."

Rain on Thursday cancelled their game against Chisholm, so the Eagles would have to wait until Friday May 15, to try to get back into the winning column against the Pine River-Backus Tigers.

The Eagles would score first as they plated one in the bottom of the first for the 1-0 lead. The Tigers quickly came back in the second as they would tally five. The Eagles countered with one more in their half of the second to trail 5-2 after two. The Tigers would add thee more in the 4th and four in the 7th inning to push the lead to 12-3 going into the bottom of the 7th. After a quick out, the next six Eagle batters would all reach on base hits as they cut the lead to 12-7, but that is where the rally would end.

Coach Shepard offered, "Once again we gave away a few too many runs with mental and physical mistakes. We have another week of the regular season left to work a few things out and get prepared for the playoffs. We still have not played a full game mentally, when we do, this team can and will make some noise in the sub-section. We stand at 6-8 on the season, we have three home games scheduled next week and plan on winning all three. We (coaches) have seen these boys play some really good ball and if they believe in their abilities and focus on the little things in a ballgame, that they have shown they can do, they will separate themselves from being an average team, to a team that can compete with the top teams in our section. These guys did not give up tonight as they showed in the seventh, but we need to be into the game mentally and physically, from the first pitch until the final out is recorded. "
