"We had no energy at all in the 1st half, and for the third game in a row we scored 20 or less points in the first half. We changed things up in the second half with three freshman, Austin Likens, Zach Nornberg and Jordan Perkins, joining Jake Spartz and Chris Scheidt on the floor and they gave us good energy and controlled the ball better," commented Coach Tim Vagle.
Scheidt led the offense with 19 points and 12 boards while Matt Johnson added 10 points and 6 rebounds and Likens put in nine.
Friday night found the Bigfork Huskies in Remer, the boys hoping to stop the recent slide going into a busy four game week. It was not to be the boys evening as the Huskies carried the win 55-82.
"Despite turning the ball over numerous times in the first half the boys battled through and had the deficit cut to seven with about two minutes remaining. Hot shooting from beyond the three point line by Bigfork carried them in the second half. We were a half step slow in getting to the shooter and they made the shots," said Coach Vagle.
Scheidt continues to shoot well scoring 25 points and pulling in 17 boards. Patrick Kemper double-doubled with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Johnson added nine with four assists.
The boys have a busy week ahead of them traveling to Bug O Nay Ge Shig tonight (Tuesday). Friday they host Nashwauk-Keewatin, then on the road Satruday to Pillager and Monday hosting McGregor.
Varsity games are scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
