Eagles dump Hornets 82-53
"We started out with some full court man to man and were able to force some turnovers and get on top quickly and with more of the same in the second half and some good ball movement, we were able to pick up our first win." Commented Coach Chris Carlson.
Zach Greene finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and six steals; Zain Myers had 16 points to go with three take-aways; Frank Smith and Cooper Kovall each chipped in 10 points each.
The boys hosted the Nevis Tigers on Dec. 11th. The Eagles held the lead early in the contest but turnovers led to some easy points for Nevis. Down only 38-31 at half, the turnovers continued in the second half leading to the boys fifth loss.
"We played good ball for part of the first half, but the turnovers lost the game for us," said Coach Carlson.
Sebeka traveled to Remer the following day. The boys took better care of the ball until the final minutes when turnovers would again plague the Eagles for another loss 57-61.
"We played good defense and a well balanced offense in the first half and led 29-26 at half. In the second half we ran into foul trouble that led to some costly turnovers that cost us another very close game," commented Coach Carlson.
Smith led the offense with 15 points, eight boards and five blocks; Kovall added 13 points to go with six rebounds and a pair of steals; Benji Swankier and Zach Carney each put in seven.
The boys get a break over Christmas and New Year's and will take to the court again on Jan. 7 hosting Oglive.[[In-content Ad]]
