On Tuesday, October 21, the Eagles first playoff game pitted them against the Section 6 #1 seed and 3rd rated team in the state, the undefeated Wauban Bombers. The boys knew it would be their toughest game of the season and were hoping to pull off a big upset. On this night the Bombers lived up to their rating and downed the Eagles 54-14.

The first quarter had the Eagles stymied on offense as an aggressive Bomber defense would not allow the Eagle offense to get on track. Capitalizing on great field position from their defense, the Bombers would push across three scores and lead 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Another score early in the second quarter had the Eagles reeling before a dazzling 65 yard TD scamper by QB Cooper Kovall seemed to spark up the Eagles as they trailed 28-6. As quickly as you can say Wauban Bombers, that momentum was shut down as they returned the ensuing kickoff for a score and a 34-8 lead and all but finish off the Eagles on this night. The Eagles would score again in the fourth quarter on a nice 8 yard run by Senior Jarod Stefan and a 2 point conversion pass from Kovall to Justin Wicks.

As is the case every season, there is the finality for a few members of the team. Playing their final game for the Eagles were Seniors Marcus Woods, Jarod Stefan, Justin Wicks and Tim Wolter. These four have persevered through some rough outings over their careers, but have stayed the course and have learned valuable life lessons from it. They have always held their heads high, played with pride and encouraged the underclassmen. Congratulations to these young men!

The Eagles will return a strong nucleus of players that have gained considerable amounts of playing time this season. Juniors- Zach Carney, Dustin Sepin, Benji Swankier, Dawson Tonga, Jeremy Johnson and Austin Cash. Sophomores- Cooper Kovall, Zain Myers, Grant Hofius, Lee Sobolik, and Jesse Williams. Freshman Spencer Procopio, Ryan Philstrom, Jonas Trostle and Cody Korsa.

Head Coach Mark Shepard and Assistant Matt Kunnari, although not happy with the overall record, were more than pleased with the attitude, commitment and heart these players gave each and every game.

The players and coaches would like to thank all the fans, parents, and friends for their support throughout the season and their careers. They would also like to thank student managers Jaclyn Sobolik and Zach Greene for all the behind the scenes work they do during the season.
