The Bulldogs are a running team and proved it on their first possession as they rumbled in for an early 6-0 lead. An Eagle fumble was returned for a 12-0 lead.
As was the case much of the first half, the Eagles would start a drive, get a first down or two, and then a fumble would give the ball back to the Bulldogs who took complete advantage as they roared to a 32-0 halftime lead.
After half the Eagles came out with fire in their eyes and marched down the field with a good mixture of runs and passes. A nice TD pass was negated by at the least a "questionable" holding call and a few plays later the Eagles were intercepted in the end zone. The Bulldogs would score again and lead 38-0.
The Eagles would not quit and would score early in the 4th quarter on a 25 yd pass from Cooper Kovall to Justin Wicks. The 2-pt conversion was good to Zain Myers and the score was 38-8. The Eagles would add another short TD pass from Kovall to Wicks to close out the scoring at 44-14 with just over 3:00 minutes remaining.
"Tonight, we turned the ball over 6 or 7 times, and when you do that it doesn't matter who you play, you are going to come out on the short end of the score", Coach Shepard would say after the game. "The boys played hard, there were positives in the game.... we had some nice plays that were off-set by the turnovers and some untimely penalties."
"We have a playoff game on Tuesday, (October 21 at Wauban, 7 p.m.) and whoever we play will probably take us lightly. I know these guys will give everything they have in that game just as they have all year. They have nothing to lose, but everything to gain."[[In-content Ad]]
