Eagles close out regular season at 14-4
The Eagles started out hot and the defense was stifling, pushing the lead to 30-11 in the first half. The Rangers would not go away as they opened the second half on a furious run to close to within two midway through the second period. The Eagles regained control behind key shots that included a step back three pointer from senior Harris Carlson on their way to a 71-60 victory. Carlson, who played one of his best games of the year led the way with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Alec Wake had 13 points and six assists. Aiden Carlson added 13 as well, with Nolan Carlson contributing 10.
Next the Eagles traveled to Chisholm to face the Bluestreaks, another solid section 7A team. This time the Eagles struggled early and trailed for the majority of the first half. In the second half they picked up the defensive intensity and started hitting a few shots from the perimeter. Carson Johnson contained the Bluestreaks' top scorer and Nolan Carlson and Alec Wake combined for five three-pointers in the second half to give the Eagles a 64-54 victory.
"I don't think a Northland team has ever beaten Chisholm," said coach Chris Carlson. "It was a win that will go a long way in determining our section ranking."
Nolan Carlson Led the Eagles in scoring with 19. Alec Wake had 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
Thursday night the Eagles closed out the season with a trip to Upsala to play a very good Cardinal team. The Eagles jumped to an early nine point lead, but cold shooting both from the field and free throw line doomed the team to a 71-57 defeat. Alec Wake led the Eagles with 19 points, Harris Carlson added 17 and Nolan Carlson contributed 11.
The Eagles, standing at 14-4, await the section seeding that comes out Saturday to determine who they will face in the first round of the playoffs.[[In-content Ad]]
