Eagles baseball season comes to an end

By Scott Wicks- | Comments: 0 | Leave a comment

On Tuesday June 4, the Eagles travelled to Thief River Falls to take on the Norman County Panthers in a Section 8A elimination game. The Panthers were the #1 seed from the West subsection and lived up to their seeding by defeating the Eagles 8-1.

Zak Nornberg took the hill for the Eagles and once again walks and a couple ill-timed errors led to the Panthers coming out of the first with a 3-0 lead. They added 2 more in the second and one in the third to take a 6-0 lead heading into the 4th.

Leading off the 4th, Logan Gross smacked a triple and scored on a botched pick-off attempt of him at third making the score 6-1. The Eagles had runners on throughout the game but could never get that key hit to drive them in. The Eagles end the season with a 5-11 record, but know with a break here or there in about 5 games could have easily been 10-6 or better and with much to prove for the 2014 season.

The Eagles were led offensively by Gross' triple, Gary Gross (1-2) and Justin Wicks (2-3).

Final season stats will be in next weeks' edition.
