Eagle defense proves too much for Vikings

The boys returned to the hardwood on Jan. 2 after a long holiday break to host the Vikings from Littlefork/Big Falls. The boys were anxious to knock off the rust and play ball. Solid defense and turning the Vikings offense over, the Eagles cruised to a 76-44 victory.

"We were able to apply good defensive pressure that resulted in a lot of turnovers that resulted in easy baskets," commented Head Coach Chris Carlson.

Zach Greene led the charge with 20 points, seven assists and eight steals, followed by Zach Carney with 20 points, six boards and four assists. Cooper Kovall added 11 points with three assists and seven take-aways.

"The boys moved the ball around and played well as a team, we've lost some very close contests and this is the type of play that will turn those close games into wins." Concluded Coach Carlson.

The boys are on the road to take on the Tigers from Pine River tonight (Tuesday), then host Onamia (3 p.m.) on Saturday. JV Games start at 5:45 p.m. with Varsity to follow unless otherwise noted.[[In-content Ad]]
