Donald Francis Ayotte, age 85, of Longville, MN, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 in Minneapolis, MN.

Donald was born on October 11, 1930 in Hibbing, MN to William and Mary (Pousha) Ayotte. After graduation, Donald enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge on August 16, 1952 he returned to the Hibbing area. He was united in marriage to Janice McComber on March 2, 1957. They made their home in Bloomington, MN and Don worked in building maintenance. Don and Janice retired in the early 1990's and moved to a lake home near Longville, MN.

Don and Jan loved riding their Harley-Davidson in the warm summer months and enjoyed day trips around Minnesota. He was also an avid hockey fan, and could be found in his chair cheering on the North Stars and later the Minnesota Wild.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janice; four daughters: Amy (Grant) Kromminga, Mindy (Jimmy) Nelson, Sally (Jeff) Sjorgen and Peggy (Tom) Gerdes; seven grandchildren: Kelsey, Kyle, Natalie, Joe, Lauren, Luc and Jake; three great-grandchildren: Riley, Aubree and Bella; his sister, Dorothy Jerome; as well as other relatives and many special friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Bill, and his grandson, Mitchell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Longville with Father Keith Bertram officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Fort Snelling at a later date.
