Do you know someone in need of food?
to the Editor,
You may ask "why?" The reason is it's an annual state wide food shelf funding campaign sponsored by Minnesota Food Share.
Minnesota Food Share distributes and allocates to all state food shelves, based on how much each food shelf collects in food and money. All donations, whether monetary or product, continue to be needed in order to serve our community.
Why food shelf? Because millions of Americans struggle to get the right food. The new face of hunger is seniors. A staggering 1 in 6 Americans, young and old, can't afford healthy food. "When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use." It's a staggering complex problem that has spurred a search for a new approach that addresses the root cause of hunger. So, we are asking everyone if you know of someone in need of food. The natural human response is, "Well if someone is hungry, you have to feed them."
In order to do that, we need everyone's help. Participating in the Minnesota Food Share March Campaign is a good start.
Sunday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m., Hackensack Area Community Food Shelf will be having a Bingo and Silent Auction at the Hackensack Hub. Hope to see you there.
In the past year, we served 675 families of wich were 312 children, 776 adults and 389 seniors. We gave away a total of 39,226 pounds of food.
All donations can be dropped off at local grocery stores, churches or at our local Hackensack Area Community Food Shelf located behind the Share-N-Care building, or mail to:
