Paul was born on October 8, 1955 in Fargo, North Dakota the son of Dennis Ardell and Jeanne (Hoge) Bergren. He moved with his family to Arlington Heights, IL where he grew up and attended school and graduated. During his youth he spent most every summer at Baldwin, ND working for his uncles Donald and Richard Hoge on their farm and cattle ranch. He went on to attend Diesel Mechanical Technical School. He was married to Cynthia Ellinger and they had one son, Jason. He lived at Grays Lake, IL and trained Morgan horses, showing them all over the US, and had a world reserve champion. He was married to Linda Harkins in 1989 at Prospect Heights, IL. They lived in Crystal Lake, IL and Paul operated his own custom cabinet shop for many years. They were blessed with two more sons, Dennis and Tom. In 2001, fulfilling a dream, they moved to McClusky, ND and started a cattle and calf ranch production, with true grit and determination he built the herd to over 300 head. In August of 2017 because of failing health Paul sold the ranch and retired to Boy Lake, MN to fish. Paul enjoyed building model trains layouts and being handy with electric, plumbing, etc. around the house.
He is survived by his wife - Linda Bergren of Boy Lake, MN; his three sons - Jason Bergren of Wheeling, IL; Dennis Bergren of Tomball, Texas; and Tom Bergren of Boy Lake, MN; His parents - Dennis and Jeanne Bergren of Park Rapids, MN; his brother - Daniel (Lori) Bergren of Illinois; Five sisters - Stephanie (Archie) Campbell of IL; Stay (Kerry) Lausch of Crystal Lake, MN; Denise Bergren of Crystal Lake, MN; Lisa Bergren ; Theresa Umbach of Manitowish Waters, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday. Deacon John Zinniel will officiate. Interment will be held in the spring of 2018.
